My Philosophy
The day you say “I do” to your person should be the most intimate and memorable day of your life. You spend so much time building up to it—making sure every detail is the way you imagined. You invite all the people you share your life with, and you spend the day celebrating the fact that you found your person. The last thing you should be worried about is posing awkwardly for the camera.
That’s why I do things a little bit differently. I’m not a big fan of the forced smiles, tilting of chins, and uncomfortable poses that make you feel like you’re in a game of twister. That’s because a wedding day is full of intimate, unscripted moments—both small and big. The subtle glances, the smiles that come out only for you because you’re thinking in your head how lucky you are to spend the day with the people you love the most. The laughs that come when you’re getting ready with your wedding party. The overly tight hugs you give your parents after you walk down the isle—the kind that clearly make it hard to breath but somehow you wish you could squeeze just a little bit tighter. And, of course, the tears that fall when you say your vows to your person as you look into their eyes. Those moments, the real moments, are the one I believe deserve to be captured and tucked away for you to cherish forever.
To me, it’s so important that you feel comfortable around your photographer. This is because your day should be 100% about you. My main goal when we work together is to be a fly on the wall so that you can be present on your day and take in every moment as much as you can. I really love taking time to get to know each of my couples so that, when the day comes, the rapport is already there and we can just hang out and have fun! The best part is that often times I’ll stay good friends with my clients long after their wedding.
Bottom line, the way I can best describe my approach is that throughout your wedding day there’s no need to try and create or manufacture these “picture perfect” romantic moments because the romance is already there. To me, a photographer’s job should be to document your day as it truly is, rather than have it be a day of tilting chins and forcing smiles for the camera.
Documentary photographer capturing the big and small of life’s most important moments
I’ve been documenting people and stories for 4 years, and I can tell you it honestly never gets old. Throughout this time my favorite photos I’ve ever taken have been the ones that capture the real emotions happening in front of me. The posed ones are nice, but they don’t evoke the same feelings that I get when I look back at some of the more candid and genuine moments I’ve had the privilege of capturing over the years. I’ve realized that I operate best when I’m allowed to freely take in the world around me, and the best way I’ve learned to do that is to let my couples do exactly the same. To me, it’s so important that you feel comfortable being vulnerable around your photographer, that is why I will always encourage you to do what makes you happy in the moment. Be your true authentic selves and I will capture just that. Just imagine the joy and excitement captured in each photograph, the magical moments frozen in time. Your love story, your special day, documented in a way that is uniquely you. I am here to capture those honest and authentic moments, those beautifully imperfect memories.
I’m a Boston North Ender with roots in Long Beach, California. I grew up looking forward to the massive pink and orange sunsets that would take over the California sky. The cotton candy clouds that lit up when the sun hit the horizon were one of the first things that inspired me to get into photography. I come from a big Latino household and I would spend almost every weekend at some family party where the music was loud and the laughs were louder. I spend my time traveling, exploring, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. Some other things I love include music, working out, making short films, cooking, playoff baseball, dark chocolate, Modern Pastry cannolis, chicken parm subs, and snowboarding. Feel free to chat with me on any or all of the above.
If this connects with you then drop me a line! I’d love to get to know you and your story.
